JoyJoy Docs

Applications

Joy runs as a CLI, in the Joyint App on desktop and web, and in VS Code. A TUI and mobile apps are planned.

CLI Preview

The primary interface. Joy ships as a single Rust binary. Install it, run joy init, and you are ready.

joy init
joy add story "User login" --priority high
joy ls
joy roadmap

The CLI is the reference implementation. Every feature lands here first. It works offline, runs on Linux, macOS, and Windows, and offers tab completion for Bash, Zsh, Fish, and PowerShell. Chats use Git. joy carries its own Git engine and runs no git process, so a machine without Git installed is a machine joy works on, and joy release publish speaks to your forge itself through the forge connector, so it needs no gh either.

TUI Planned

An interactive terminal UI for browsing and editing the backlog. Think of it as a visual layer on top of the CLI - keyboard-driven, no mouse required, real-time updates as you navigate items, dependencies, and milestones.

The TUI will use the same data layer as the CLI. No separate process, no server.

Desktop App Preview

The Joyint App for macOS, Windows, and Linux, built with Tauri and SolidJS. It opens your local projects and reads and writes the same .joy/ directory as the CLI: board, items, milestones, and chats with people and AI members. Free on local projects. Download it here.

Web App Preview

The same app in the browser at app.joyint.com, part of the Joyint platform. Sign in with GitHub or by email, connect a repository on your forge, and the platform keeps its clone in sync with it. Your repo remains the source of truth.

VS Code Extension Preview

A backlog tree, item editor, and board inside VS Code, with start, submit, and close actions. The extension calls the joy CLI, so it follows the same rules and gates.

Mobile Planned

Apps for iOS and Android are planned.
